ESN for Global Dignity
ESN Uni Turku invites you to take part in Global Dignity Day - an interesting conference with prestigious speakers! This is an unique chance to hear and share thoughts about dignity while you are in Finland!
Global Dignity Day 2011 is organized for the first time in Finland on Wednesday 19th September 18:00 – 20:00 in Espoo Barona Areena.
The event includes speeches of well-known international speakers: HRH crown prince of Norway Haakon, Archbishop Desmond Tutu from South Africa, American advisor of president Obama, John Hope Bryant, President and Nobel laureate Martti Ahtisaari and host, founding member of Global Dignity, philosopher Pekka Himanen. They will present very personal views and experiences on dignity.
Global Dignity organization was founded by three Young Global Leaders in 2006: HRH prince Haakon, John Hope Bryant and Pekka Himanen. They came to the conclusion that in this world, which is divided by politics, religion, race and cultural boundaries, there is one thing common to all of us – we all want to be acknowledged as human beings. Global Dignity has co-operated with many opinion leaders in over 40 countries during the annual Dignity Days events. In 2011 Global Dignity Day events will be organized in over 50 countries.
The event will give an opportunity to exchange ideas and thoughts about dignity and tolerance. It will also be a perfect place to meet like-minded young people. The event will be in English. It will be recorded and broadcasted on the same evening on Channel Nelonen. In addition, Global Dignity Day 2011 will be streamed in the internet worldwide. Program includes video and music shows relating to the subject. American rap-artist Nadirah X, well-known for her controversial lyrics, will step on to the podium to perform the Global Dignity theme song.
