ESN Finland Pirates of the Baltic Sea!

Ahoy all the sailors!

It's here! The very first national cruise of ESN Finland: Pirates of the Baltic Sea! This awesome boat trip combines two nights of non-stop partying with a sightseeing in Stockholm. Do you want to be a part of the lucky ones who get to experience the biggest ESN event in Finland this year? To be one in a boat full of exchange students from all around Finland?

What is Pirates of the Baltic Sea?

Pirates of the Baltic Sea is a new, massive party cruise for the exchange students and other internationally minded people studying in Finland. The trip is taking place on Sunday 30.10 - Tuesday 1.11.2011. Theme of the cruise is, of course,  "Pirates of the Baltic Sea" - so feel free to dress up accordingly!

Approx. 1200 students in total will be sailing on the Baltic Sea for two days. This year our route is Helsinki – Stockholm – Helsinki. Besides having a good time on the boat in an international atmosphere with your fellow exchange students from all over Finland, you also have a chance to visit the capital city of Sweden! Programme on board includes e.g. buffet dinner, karaoke, live bands,  tax free, disco etc. Silja Line has it´s own theme at the cruise which is "It´s showtime" (e.g. amazing magic shows on both days)! What's included in the ticket?

The cruise costs 70 euros/person, which includes the boat trip (2 nights on board + day in Stockholm) and all-you-can-eat-and-drink buffet dinner on Sunday evening. ESN sections in Turku will also organize bus transportation Turku-Helsinki-Turku and price for this will be announced as soon as possible (app. 20 €)!

Where can I buy a ticket?

First you need to sign up for the trip online: https://www.lyyti.fi/ilmoittaudu/ESN_Pirates_of_the_Baltic_Sea_ESN_Uni_Turku_3102 Register only once. You will receive a confirmation email after a couple of minutes.

Fill out the form carefully and make sure all the data you have given matches the one on your passport! The date of your birth has to be in the format DDMMYYY (for example 24121988 for 24.12.2011). If the information you give turns out to be incorrect, it is possible that you are not allowed to enter the boat! Note that you lose the right to come if you haven’t paid the trip before the deadline.

After you have signed up you need to pay for the trip. The price of the cruise is 70€ and you can come pay for it to the ESN Uni Turku’s office during the office hour on Tuesday 20.9 (14.00-15.00). The office is located in the same hallway as the starting packet office, room number 205. (Rehtorinpellonkatu 4-6 B 205). You can pay the tickets only in cash, please have exact sum with you! You don't need to pay the trip in person - also your friend can bring the money.

Remember that this price DOES NOT include transportation Turku-Helsinki-Turku! We will inform the participants as soon as possible about the price of the bus (app. ~20 e).

Be fast - we have only a limited number of places (100 in total for ESN Uni Turku). ESN Åbo Akademi and ESN IAC will also organize their own ticket sales!

Note that the ticket is personal and binding. 

Can I share a cabin with my friend?

On the boat there are cabins for three and four people. If you have friends you want to share the cabin with write their name on the cabin companion field (online registration). Remember this is just a prefence. We try to get you to the cabin with your friends. Don't worry if you don't find yourself a group, you can still attend this cruise.

Do I need visa?

All passengers must have a valid ID card to board the ferry. If you are a citizen of a country within Schengen you only need a Schengen valid ID. Other citizens may need a passport and possibly a visa. Contact your embassy for more information. ESN will not refund your ticket if you have passport/visa troubles. Check with embassies to make sure you have the right documents with you.

General rules:

- Age limit for the cruise is 18.
-Tax free alcohol is not available for our group on the route Helsinki-Stockholm. This is TallinkSilja policy on big student cruises. Tax free alcohol is open for us on the route Stockholm-Helsinki (on the way back)
-There is a security check at the terminal. All own alcohol is prohibited and will be taken away.
-Student overalls are allowed.
-The cruise is not a charter, so there might be other passengers as well. There is going to be another 300 person student group with us at the same time.
