Erasmus students- Are you staying in Finland till the end of May and have nothing to do! Well, today is your lucky day. ESN is organising a trip to the Åland Islands for the first time EVER!
The Åland Islands are situated in the archipelago between Finland and Sweden and are just amazingly beautiful. The islands belong to Finland but are autonomic and their official language is Swedish. The people are friendly and we would defini...tely say that these unique islands are a place you should visit before leaving Finland.
So do you want to have the ultimate archipelago- experience? Then this is the trip for you!!
We will start our trip on the 19th of May by taking the ferryboat Viking Line over to the “capital” of the Åland Islands, Mariehamn.
We will arrive in the afternoon and settle in at our first accommodation, Pensionat Solhem. When we are settled we will be given a guided tour of the city from the local tourism students and in the evening discover the nightlife Åland style ;)
The second day you have some free time to explore Mariehamn on your own. The buses in the
center are all free so it is very easy to move back and forth from the pensionat.
Here is a link to an online travel guide of the Åland islands, which can come in handy ;)

In the afternoon we will all jump on the buss that will take us to our second accommodation,
Djurviks Gård.
Djurviks Gård is about 18 km from the centre of Mariehamn and here we will live in traditional
Finnish cottages. We will have our own beach where you can swim or fish and there is the
opportunity to rent kayaks and rowing boats.
In the evening we will have a Sauna Party - The Traditional Finnish Way! ;)
After a good nights rest we will head back to the centre and take the boat back to Turku!
This will be a lot of fun and definitely not a trip to miss!
And the best thing of all: It will only cost you 60€ so hurry up, places are limited!!
